Bolivar at the start was called Santa Ana de el Pescador, its territory is mostly hilly to descend to the Valley of the Cauca River. It was founded in 1567 in lands of Indians gorrones, making it one of the oldest municipalities of the Valle del Cauca.
Due to its proximity to the city of Tulua, the inhabitants of the municipality of Bolívar have the possibility of studying in the Tulua UCEVA or in the different headquarters of the Universidad del Valle in the Centre and North of the Valle. It also boasts institutions of great recognition in Latin America as the INTEP located in the municipality of Roldanillo where also many of our young people have easy access to technical education.
